Designing Places Award

"Higher standards of design depend on the attitude, knowledge and skills of everyone involved in the development process"

Designing Places, November 2001.

cover graphicAt the Scottish Awards for Quality in the Planning, the Scottish Executive, in association with The Lighthouse, will introduce a new urban design award for planning students, called the Designing Places Award. It will be for urban design work that has been carried out as part of the curriculum on planning courses, whether a project, dissertation, essay or report. It is open to all undergraduate and post graduate students. Entrants can either be individual or a group. It is hoped that the new award will raise the profile of design, test ability and provide an opportunity for students and professionals to mix and discuss each others work.

This year's awards

Nominations closed in September for the 2002 Awards. The 36 entries will be assessed by this year's judges: Gordon Mann, Barbara Illsley and Joan Burnie. The Minister for Social Justice will present the awards at the Hub on 27 February 2003.
