Circulars issued since January 2002 are listed below.

Circular 3/2002
Town and Country Planning Fees for Applications (Scotland) Amendment Regulations
(March 2002)
This Circular draws attention to the Town and Country Planning (Fees for Applications and Deemed Applications) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2002 (Scottish Statutory Instrument 2002 No 122) which amend and should be read in conjunction with the Town and Country Planning (Fees for Applications and Deemed Applications) (Scotland) Regulations 1997 (SI 1997/10). The Amendment Regulations come into force on 1 April 2002 and prescribe the fees for planning applications made on or after that date.

Circular 8/2002
Control of Development in Airport Public Safety Zones
(August 2002)
The basic policy objective governing the restriction on development near civil airports is that there should be no increase in the number of people living, working or congregating in Public Safety Zones (PSZs) and that, over time, the number should be reduced as circumstances allow. Includes revised guidance for planning authorities on risk contour modelling. Even though the Department for Transport is responsible for providing guidance, the Executive now has to provide guidance, as planning policy is devolved to Scottish Ministers.

For copies of Circulars contact: Nick Morrison on 0131 244 7066 email: nicholas.morrison@scotland.gsi.gov.uk

Development Plan Progress

A leaflet detailing the progress of development plans across Scotland has always accompanied the Planning Bulletin. This will no longer be produced, but details of Structure and Local Plan progress can now be found on our website: www.scotland.gov.uk/planning . The Scottish Executive has provided snapshot information on development plans for many years, but as part of our programme of modernisation we are aiming to provide even more up to date and accurate information on development plans. A new development plan service will be made available on our web-site early in 2003.
