Housing Statistics for Scotland

The Housing Statistics for Scotland web tables contain a range of time series and summary tables available to download in Excel format. They replace the Quarterly Housing Trends in Scotland bulletin series. The tables were first published on 20 November 2007 and were accompanied by the Housing Statistics for Scotland 2007: Key Trends Summary.

During 2008, additional Housing Statistics publications will be incorporated into these Housing Statistics for Scotland pages, including the Supporting People and Local Authority Housing Income and Expenditure publications.

Recent Updates

21 October 2008
19 August 2008
20 May 2008
  • Tables now include 2007 q4 (October to December) information on topics including new house building, sales of social sector dwellings and rent registration. Annual tables for 2007 have been updated where appropriate.
25 April 2008 - Revisions to figures on new social housing between 1999 and 2007
  • A number of starts and completions which had been included in housing association new build tables are in fact completions by private individuals or developers who have received public funding under subsidy schemes designed to provide affordable housing. It is likely that these developments have been double counted in the data which councils provide on private housing starts and completions, and so amendments have been made to both the housing association and total new build starts and completions. A note explaining the revisions is available here, and revised tables can be accessed through the links below.

25 March 2008
23 February 2008
  • Tables now include 2007 q3 (July to September) information on new house building, sales of social sector dwellings and rent registration.
  • A new methodology has been introduced to estimate stock by tenure between 2000 and 2007.
  • Other tables contain some minor updates.
