Types of Crime
The most serious crimes, such as murder, serious assault, rape and indecent assaults comprise only 5% of all crimes recorded. Crimes of dishonesty, such as housebreaking and shoplifting are nearly half of the overall total, with their numbers having decreased each year since 1998/99. Other crimes includes handling of offensive weapons, drug crimes and breaches of bail conditions.
