About Statistics in Scotland - Major Statistical Surveys

Introduction

High quality survey research is required by all levels of government to inform policy and public debates on a range of issues. Scottish survey results are increasingly being used with other statistics to monitor government targets.

A number of sample surveys of people, households and businesses are conducted on a UK/GB level and include a Scottish dimension. You may also be interested in Scottish Government Research.

Survey Harmonisation work is being undertaken to introduce common concepts and defintions across the large scale social surveys in Scotland.
