Survey Harmonisation

The Survey Harmonisation agenda involves identifying key large scale surveys with the potential for harmonising key methodological concepts and definitions. Surveys involved in the process are:

The Survey Harmonisation agenda will also seek to promote the recommended survey design of core and modular structure, unclustered sampling and harmonised socio-economic core to smaller government surveys, local authority surveys and administrative sources.

Socio-Economic Core

A socio-economic core of 20 questions has been picked for inclusion in Scotland's large scale surveys:

Each question has been taken in turn as it is in existing surveys, selecting wording and outputs that can form a standard harmonised question for Scottish surveys:

Some of the questions are deemed 'finalised' - i.e. as the question wording and output for each question will appear in Scotland's large scale surveys:
