The consultation paper "Improving Statistical Services in Scotland" was published on 11 December 2006. The consultation was in two parts, the first part requesting views on the way proposed for the UK Statistics and Registration Service Bill in Scotland and the second part for opinions on the other measures to improve the statistics service in Scotland:

Statistics Reform - Improving Statistical Services in Scotland: Scottish Government Response and Update was published on 19 June 2008. This report outlines how the Statistics Reform programme has been shaped from various consultation activities, including the consultation paper "Improving Statistical Services in Scotland"
UK Government
On 22 March 2006, HM Treasury published "Independence for Statistics: A Consultation Document". Nearly 80 responses were received to the UK consultation which lasted for 12 weeks.
On 15 November 2006, HM Treasury published "Independence for Statistics: The Government Response", setting out the proposals which the UK government planned to legislate on.
The UK Government carried out the consultation "Limiting pre-release access to statistics".
