Rural Priorities awards…
The new competitive Rural Priorities is underway.
Following the first Rural Priorities Assessment Committee (RPAC) meeting held on Tuesday August 26, 81 Proposals have been awarded funding totalling £5.9 million. Successful applicants will be informed by post shortly and those unsuccessful on this occasion will exceptionally be given the opportunity to be presented to the next assessment round in October.
The funding awarded can be broken down across the country as follows:
- Argyll - 7 cases, totalling £745,082
- Ayrshire - 12 cases, totalling £723,109
- Borders - 5 cases, totalling £568,042
- Clyde - 1 case, totalling £32,500
- Dumfries and Galloway - 6 cases, totalling £472,074
- Forth - 1 case, totalling £96,310
- Grampian - 14 cases, totalling £1,548,699
- Highland - 10 cases, totalling £432,864
- Northern Isles - 8 cases, totalling £181,959
- Outer Hebrides - 3 cases, totalling £149,557
- Tayside - 14 cases, totalling £939,283
Projects include: the expansion and modernisation of a dairy business in Tayside; contributing to the restoration of a 40 acre site of ancient woodland in the Highlands, which includes the protection of an archaeological site; and the installation of a biomass boiler on an organic farm on Mull and a wood chip production and supply business in Grampian.
There are now almost 3,000 registrations of interest in the system and regular assessment rounds being held right up to 2013. A total of 363 Proposals are currently being prepared for presentation to the next assessment round.
