Scottish Government's Drugs Strategy

Scotland's first national drugs strategy The Road to Recovery: A New Approach to Tackling Scotland's Drug Problem was launched on May 29, 2008. The strategy sets out a vision where fewer people start using drugs; where early intervention prevents and reduces the harms caused by drugs; where more people recover to make a positive contribution to society; and communities are stronger and safer places to live and work.

The strategy focuses on recovery and reinforces the message that services should support people to move on, towards a drug-free life, as active and contributing members of society.
