The Scottish Executive Climate Change Branch are responsible for advising Scottish Ministers on climate change and ozone depleting substances matters. We are also responsible for improving awareness of climate change and disseminating information on the threat of climate change in Scotland. Through our actions, we seek to encourage groups of Scottish stakeholders to integrate climate risk into their management strategies.
Whilst environment policy, including climate change, is devolved to the Scottish Executive, policies to tackle climate change cover a wide range of sectors and span both reserved and devolved areas. In light of this, the Branch liases with the UK Government, particularly the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), who are responsible for international and European Union negotiations on the Framework Convention on Climate Change, Montreal Protocol on Ozone Depleting Substances and UK climate change and ozone depleting substances policy.
Should you require further information or advice, the Branch can be contacted by e-mail at climate.change@scotland.gsi.gov.uk.
