Published on September 18 2008 on behalf of the UK Government and the Devolved Administrations, the inventories detail emissions of greenhouse gases covered by the Kyoto Protocol (carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons and sulphur hexafluoride) from various sources in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for the years 1990, 1995 and 1998 - 2006.
News release on the challenge facing Scotland.
Data on greenhouse gas emissions, from all inventories, are also available on the National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory (NAEI) website along with the latest emission maps.
O Annual European Community greenhouse gas inventory 1990-2002 and inventory report 2004
Compiled by the European Environment Agency, this inventory gives details of EU and Member States emissions. It shows that overall emissions fell slightly in 2002 after two years of increase. An associated press release gives a summary of greenhouse gas emissions trends in 2002 and Kyoto Protocol targets.
O Greenhouse Gas Inventories Database
This database, provided by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), allows you to check emissions data for selected developed and developing countries, for selected greenhouse gases, by selected sources (e.g. transport, etc.) and for selected years from 1990 to 2000.
O Greenhouse gas emission trends and projections in Europe 2006
The latest projections from pre-2004 EU Member States (EU-15) show that greenhouse gas emissions could be brought down to 8.0 % below 1990 levels by 2010. If all existing and planned domestic policy measures are implemented and Kyoto mechanisms as well as carbon sinks are used, the EU-15 will reach its Kyoto Protocol target. This projection relies on figures from several Member States which suggest that they will cut emissions by more than is required to meet their national targets.
