National Qualifications Steering Group
The National Qualifications Steering Group (NQSG) was originally established to help simplify the organisational arrangements surrounding the introduction of new National Qualifications. The roles of the Higher Still Implementation Group (HSIG) and Higher Liaison Group (HSLG) were merged to ensure that key stakeholder organisations could discuss in a single forum the issues involved and action to be taken.
NQSG membership
NQSG's remit is to:
- advise the Scottish Executive on issues relating to National Qualifications resulting from Curriculum for Excellence. Act as a sounding board, offer advice and provide assistance from a stakeholder perspective to the work of the Assessment and Qualifications Task Group.
monitor and review National Qualifications related issues arising in the subsequent development and implementation phase and advise the Scottish Executive on the steps to be taken nationally and/or locally to address them.
consider and review other developments in National Qualifications, including outstanding issues in the National Qualifications Review process.
Progress made by NQSG will be of interest to a variety of stakeholders including the school and further and higher education sectors (teachers, lecturers, local authorities, students, parents, unions etc) and indeed to key players involved in implementation, including the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), Learning and Teaching Scotland (LTS) and the Scottish Further Education Unit (SFEU).
