Community Learning and Development news
Development of Community Capacity Building Practice Guidance Materials
Learning Connections has commissioned ODS Consulting to develop practice guidance materials to support partnership-based practice and management of community capacity building in a Scottish community learning and development context. The first stage of this work is to survey people working in community capacity building to find out what is required from the guidance. Please contribute your views through our short questionnaire and encourage colleagues to do the same.
Up-skilling the community learning and development (CLD) workforce
Learning Connections is planning a programme to support the "upskilling" of the CLD workforce. The Scottish Government has identified £4 million in resources over this spending review period (£1 million in 2009 - 10 and £3 million in 2010 - 11) for this programme. The focus of this particular investment is on people who currently work in CLD (rather than those in initial training) and a key part of the approach will be to ensure that the programme supports longer-term change. Learning Connections is working in partnership with the new Standards Council for CLD to develop this programme.
Learning Connections has commissioned Blake Stevenson to undertake a scoping exercise that will investigate current approaches to training and development for the CLD workforce. This will have a key role in shaping the development of the programme.
