Business support grants
The Scottish Government can provide a range of financial assistance to new and existing businesses in Scotland.
Investment Grants
- Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) - is the main national scheme of financial assistance to industry, helping create and safeguard jobs in the Assisted Areas of Scotland. It also encompasses additional Tier 3 support, available to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in other designated areas.
Innovation Grants
There is a range of funding to assist the research and development of innovative products and processes. This includes:
- SMART:SCOTLAND scheme - provides financial assistance to individuals and SMEs to help support commericially viable projects which represent a significant technological advance for the UK sector or industry concerned.
- SEEKIT programme - can provide grant support to the public sector science base (such as Scottish universities, research institutes, technology transfer organisations, NHS Trusts etc) to support projects that will promote co-operation in R&D and knowledge transfer between these organisations and small and medium sized enterprises.
