A. Corrigenda

In section 6, the "Do" numbered A9 is mandatory.

In section 13 of the Dos and Don'ts Guide, the "Do" numbered 5 should read "Consult Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) regarding any areas designated for their nature conservation value within 2km of any new or substantially changed installation that exceeds the thresholds in the PPC Regulations."

B. Other changes

Added to section 13 of the Dos and Don'ts Guide are the following points about Straw Burning. These are all voluntary (rather than statutory, or related to GAEC). The full Code already contains such advice (in paragraphs 13.28 to 13.30).

Do make a fire break at least 10m wide, before burning straw or stubble.

Do warn your neighbours before starting to burn straw or stubble.

DON'Ts

Don't burn straw or stubble :

  • when the fire may get out of control. e.g. in windy or exceptionally dry conditions
  • within 15m of the trunk of a tree or a hedgerow
  • within 50m of any housing or farm buildings
  • within 100m of a main road
  • after dusk
