Introduction

The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 introduced important new rights to access information held by Scottish public authorities that requires that requires a more proactive publication of information.

The Act came into force on 1 January 2005 and under its provisions anyone or anybody may request information from Scottish public authorities which holds it and is entitled to be given it by the authority.

Following a decision by the Scottish Information Commissioner (SIC) for the release on 3 October 2008 of certain information held following an appeal made by R Hill & Co to the Commissioner, relating to arbitrations and applications for goose llicences at Powhillon Farm.
