Action 46

Action 46

"The Executive will support the development of a Scottish version of the low cost Environmental Management for Agriculture CD-ROM computer software programme. This has been developed for farmers in England and Wales to help them meet environmental objectives by using Integrated Crop Management and environmental management techniques."

Progress

This Action was completed when the Environmental Management for Agriculture (EMA 2004) CD-Rom became available for purchase from the University of Hertfordshire in February 2004.

Some of the issues that had to be addressed for the existing EMA to cover Scotland included

  • an extension to the soil, climate and environmental parameters database
  • identifying and developing a new system to enable spatial placement of Scottish farms
  • adapting and expanding the advisory system to take account of Scottish legislation and Codes of Practice as well as adapting software so Scottish data would automatically be presented
  • developing new modules which include the interactive module for Nitrate Vulnerable Zones

Action 46 completed.
