"Lantra must work in partnership with employers and
employer representative bodies, Training Providers and
Enterprise Networks to raise and broaden the skill levels
of the land-based workforce. The Executive is letting a new
contract with Lantra aimed at achieving this."
Progress
Lantra is working with a range of Government
Departments, agencies and a network of 70 training provider
organisations throughout Scotland to ensure that the supply
of training meets the needs of the sector.
In 2004, the Scottish Executive entered into an
agreement with Lantra to provide them with funding over the
three year period to March 2007. This is helping Lantra to
improve employer engagement with the land based sector to
create a demand side lead for improving the skills base and
is influencing the planning and funding of training through
the provision of high quality labour market
intelligence.
