Overall I am satisfied with my job
57% of respondents from Ayrshire replied positively to being overall satisfied with their job compared with a national score of 66%
My job makes good use of my skills and abilities
63% of respondents felt that their skills and abilities were made use of compared with a national score of 62%
My work gives me a feeling of personal achievement
67% of respondents felt they had a sense of personal achievement in their work compared with a national score of 62%
I can clearly see how my work contributes to the business plan of my work area
65% of respondents replied that they can see how they contribute overall to the business plan compared with a national score of 66%
I understand how my work contributes to the objectives of my Agency
76% of respondents felt that they understand how they can contribute to the overall objectives of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service compared to the national score of 72%
I feel appropriately rewarded for my performance
Only 16% of respondents felt they were appropriately rewarded for they work they do. This figure appears to reflect feelings of most staff across the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service where a national score of 19% was recorded.
I feel I have the skills and knowledge I need to achieve my objectives
88% of respondents felt they had the appropriate skills and knowledge to do their job compared with a national score 86%
I am satisfied that the learning opportunities I receive provide me with the skills and knowledge to do my job
49% of respondents were satisfied that the learning opportunities provided helped them in their work compared with a national score of 53%
I receive regular and constructive feedback on my performance
Only 27% of respondents indicated that they receive regular feedback compared with a national score of 43%
I feel that my Agency is committed to the training and development of its staff
35% of staff felt that the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service was committed to training compared with a national score of 39%
I feel that there are opportunities to progress in my career
Only 24% of staff felt there were opportunities to progress in their career compared with a national score of 32%

83% of respondents with line management responsibility felt they had the skills and abilities to manage their team compared with a national score of 90%

82% of respondents felt that they work together to get work done. This is the same as the national score.

35% of staff felt that they are motivated or inspired by their managers to be more effective in their job compared with a national score of 49%

55% of respondents felt their line manager communicated effectively compared with a national score of 57%

32% of respondents felt their physical working environment helped them be productive compared with a national score of 47%
Overall I have confidence in the senior managers in my work area
32% of respondents indicated that they had confidence in their senior managers compared with a national score of 40%
Senior managers in my work area are sufficiently visible

16% of respondents felt that the different parts of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service communicate well compared with a national score of 27%

73% of respondents felt that Crown Office and the Procurator Fiscal Service appreciate individual differences compared with a national score of 68%

49% of respondents felt they could strike the right balance between work and home life. This compares with a national score of 56%.
I feel that the level of stress in my job has a negative effect on my work
18% of respondents felt that stress has a negative effect on their work compared with a national score of 28%
Poor performance is dealt with effectively in my area of work
Only 18% of respondents felt that poor performance is dealt with effectively. This compares with a national score of 22%.
I believe that I am valued for what I can offer my Agency
38% of respondents felt they are valued which is the same as the national score
I feel inspired to do my best at work
58% of respondents felt inspired to do their best compared with a national score of 60%
I intend to still be working for my Agency in 12 months' time
82% of respondents felt they would still be working for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service in 12 months' time compared with a national score of 68%
I feel that positive action has been taken following the last Employee Survey
Only 25% of respondents felt that things have changed since the last survey. This is true for the whole of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service with a national score of 26%.
Overall I think my Agency is a good place to work
44% of respondents felt the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service is a good place to work compared with a national score of 52%
Conclusion:
The strong points in Ayrshire are that three quarters of staff understand how their work contributes to the objectives of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, most feel they have the skills and knowledge to do their jobs, over 80% feel their team co-operates to get work done and 83% of line managers feel they have the skills and abilities to manage their team although only a third of respondents say they have confidence in their senior managers and only 35% say that they are motivated or inspired by their manager and 26% saying that senior management in their work area are visible.
The weaker points for Ayrshire are that only 16% feel appropriately rewarded and only 38% feel valued. Only 27% indicated they get regular feedback on performance and only 24% feel there are opportunities to progress in their career. With regard to receiving clear explanations about major decisions only 22% feel that they are informed. Only 18% feel poor performance is dealt with and just a quarter feel that things have changed since the last survey.
Almost half of respondents from Ayrshire feel that their work/life balance is right with 18% indicating that stress has a negative impact on their work.
Although not all questions in the survey have been included here the overall analysis shows that Ayrshire scoring is not too dissimilar to the feelings held by staff in the whole of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.
