Scottish Ministers are in charge of different policy areas in the Scottish Government's work. You can find out about the government's work on the Topics web pages

They are MSPs which means they have been elected to the Scottish Parliament

There is a central Ministers' Mailbox where your message will be sent on to the relevant Minister.

Civil servants are the staff who work in the Scottish Goverment.

They can be contacted by phone, email or letter.

If you are unsure who is the best person to talk to, call the Central Enquiry Unit




You can respond to consultation exercises

WritingThe Scottish Government consults the public in order to gather views to help it carry out its work effectively. For example, when making a new policy or considering changes to an existing policy

You can usually take part in consultations by paper or by email

For some consultation exercises it may also be possible to give your views in a range of other ways, for example by completing an online questionnaire or by attending a public meeting

All consultation exercises are displayed on the Consultations web page and new consultations are announced through an email update system called seConsult
